In the new production Die Gedanken sind frei the Tontanz Ensemble tells a tale of love and home. Through a collection of folk songs like the titular piece Die Gedanken sind frei and Swiss folk songs like 'S isch äben e Mönsch uf Ärde' and 'Lueget von Berg und Tal,' as well as Afghan folk songs like 'Soltane Ghalba' and 'Sarzamine Man,' the performance connects these two cultures. By involving the audience, the production brings together people from different backgrounds who might otherwise remain in separate worlds.
